STUGGLES OF A RICKSHAW DRIVER

Age: 56 years

Rajendra is a rickshaw driver. He lives with his wife and 2 children, a son and a daughter, He is from Maharastra, India. 

He has been working as a rickshaw driver for the past 10 years. Before he used to drive a private taxi. But after a lot of struggle he bought his own rickshaw. The reason he started working was because of the sudden death of his father. He was the only child in the family and hence had to take responsibility for his mother and other family members.

He always dreamed to become a cricketer as a child. but due to his family's financial issues, his dream remained a dream and couldn't become a reality.

He enjoys his current job. He likes taking his passengers to their destinations safely. He has a friendly nature and likes to talk to his customers and make them feel comfortable. He says "Talking to my passengers makes the journey easier as there is no tension between us and it also gives me Happiness."

But during the lockdown period, he had to face a lot of problems as there was no income because everyone was stuck in their houses. Not just him but all other rickshaw and taxi drivers faced a similar situation. They had to use their savings to make a living. It was really a stressful time for everyone.

His only goal now is to keep his family happy and that his children should be able to achieve their dreams.
