COOKING FOR PROSPERITY

Ms. Laxmi Talwar (40 yrs) stays with a family of 4 members comprising of her husband, her son, her mother and herself.

As a teenager, her ambition was to become a nurse but was unable to pursue it because of pecuniary reasons.

Since past 3 years, in Karwar (Karnataka), she used to carry out regular domestic work in people's houses for 4 hours in total per day. Her daily task schedule included sweeping, mopping, washing the dishes, clothes, cleaning windows and watering the plants and sometimes working 1 hour overtime for an extra pay. Unfortunately, they had to leave their hometown (Karwar) and relocate in Verna, Goa.

Currently, she works as a cook in a restaurant, working 5 hours a day, having the same salary as she generally got in her hometown performing household chores. She is gratified with her job as she is in a position to feed her family and fulfill their basic needs.

At this moment in time, her dream is to see her only son prosper in life with the help of education because that is the best thing any parent can give to their children.
